How does a microneedling procedure work?

The Collagen PIN falls somewhere in the middle of a corrective laser treatment, like Fraxel, and of a maintenance treatment like chemical peeling and Microdermabrasion.

Microneedling is a form of collagen induction therapy. The tip of the Collagen PIN contains sterile micro-pins that are used to create micro-injury sites at precise depths in the skin. This treatment makes use of the skin’s natural healing process to stimulate collagen, growth factors and elastin production. The result is a reduction in the appearance of textural issues and skin rejuvenation.

Who is a good candidate for the treatments?

One of the awesome things about the P.I.N is that it can be used on all skin types, skin colors and on any part of the body. That’s right….NO restrictions!

How many treatments will I need?

Typically a series of 3-6 Collagen P.I.N. treatments is recommended, depending upon your area of correction or concern. Your skincare professional will ultimately determine a treatment schedule based on your individual skin conditions, skin issues, goals and desires. Treatments are usually spaced in 4-week intervals. Patients with deep wrinkles, advanced sun damage, stretch marks, or any type of scars, usually require 6 or more treatments to achieve the desired results. 

Will the Collagen P.I.N. procedure hurt?

Prior to your treatment with collagen, the treatment area will be numbed with a topical numbing agent. Most people feel almost nothing after having been pretreated with a topical numbing agent. 

What will I look like after my microneedling treatment?

Immediately after your treatment, your skin will look slightly pink to moderately red. We have you go home with a post-care kit containing skincare products that are 100% paraben free, gluten free and vegan, which will greatly minimize these symptoms and enhance your overall results. 

Can I use makeup after treatment?

Directly after your treatment, we recommend using only mineral-based foundation, as it cannot build bacteria. You may go back to your regular foundation 4 days post-treatment.

How long will it take for me to see the results? 

Most patients see results after the first treatment. Individual results vary depending on individual skin conditions. It is common to see positive results as soon as 1-2 weeks after the first treatment. Often, change is noted within just a few days!!! 

How long will my Collagen P.I.N. results last?

This produces results through the stimulation of growth factors and collagen, thereby promoting new skin cells to surface. As our skin ages, our collagen production naturally slows down. Your overall result will last longer when using an at-home regimen that includes a daily Retinoid product. We can help you determine the best-suited home care regimen for your skin type. New collagen & elastin formation in the skin are documented as visually and measurably improved as much as one year after just one treatment. However, a series of treatments is typically recommended for best results.

• No Aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory products for two days prior to the procedure
• No fish oil/omega oils for 1 week prior to the procedure
• No Retin A – products or applications 12 hours prior to treatment.
• No auto – immune therapies or products 12 hours prior to treatment.
• No prolonged sun exposure to the face 24 hours prior to your treatment. Collagen P.I.N treatment will not be administered on sunburned skin.
• If an active or extreme breakout occurs before treatment, please consult your practitioner.
• On the day of the treatment, please keep your face clean and do not apply makeup before coming in.
